Bachelor Degree from Illinois State University
I am happily back temporarily from retirement to teach my former 4th and 5th grade students who are now in junior high. I started my career in public school, District 159, where I worked for over twenty years as an ELA teacher and moved to 4th grade my last seven years there. I took a few years off when I married my husband, Nick. My two grown children, Ann and Rob, attended St. Damian, so I became a parent volunteer in the office, and this is where it all started. After a couple of years, St. Damian needed someone to work with the kindergarten through second graders in the library on Fridays. I filled that position until the junior high ELA position opened when the teacher became principal. That was the year my baby graduated from St. Damian, so I went back to my passion of teaching English and literature to junior high students in a Catholic school, so I was able to finally bring my faith into the classroom and to the children I teach. This has been the best part of teaching at St. Damian School. Seven years ago I decided to take a break from grading essays every night to teach fourth and fifth graders, where I thought I had ended my fabulous career. I am excited to be back to get the 8th graders off to an awesome start to their final year and to get the 6th graders on track to what junior high is all about. I am back because of the supportive parents, awesome students, and wonderful faculty and staff. I have always been proud to say that I work at St. Damian School.
